The installation reproduced the constellations of the sky above the synagogue on the day of the last service held there. The map of the sky was generated by a special computer programme for amateurs of astronomy, based on the geographical coordinates of the building and the specific date and time. The last service in the New Synagogue was held on Saturday 9 September 1939 at 9 am (hence the title of the installation). I transposed the mirror of the water into the sky, and glass candles into stars … Candles have to be made in a certain way in order to float on water. My students helped me to precisely display and anchor the candles in accordance with the map of the sky. A concert by the Choir from the White Stork Synagogue in Wrocław took place on the presentation of this installation.

The documentation of this installation was shown in Es brennt! 75 Jahre nach den Novemberpogromen 1938 / Fire! 75th Anniversary of the November Pogroms 1938. Dokumentationszentrum Topographie des Terrors in Berlin (7/11/2013 – 2/03/2014). The exhibition organized by the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Topography of Terror Foundation and the Foundation New Synagogue Berlin – Centrum Judaicum.

9.09.1939, 2005, instalacja z niebieskich zniczy na pływalni w dawnym budynku synagogi w Poznaniu.

Instalacja była odwzorowaniem wyglądu nieba nad synagogą w dniu ostatniego nabożeństwa. Podstawą odwzorowania stała się mapa nieba wygenerowana przy pomocy programu komputerowego dla miłośników astronomii, na podstawie współrzędnych geograficznych budynku, daty i godziny. Ostatnie nabożeństwo w synagodze odbyło się w sobotę 9 września 1939 roku o godzinie 9 rano (stąd tytuł instalacji). Zamieniłem lustro wody w niebo, a szklane znicze w gwiazdy... Znicze musiały mieć odpowiedni kształt, żeby mogły unosić się na wodzie. W precyzyjnym, według mapy nieba, ułożeniu i zakotwiczeniu zniczy w basenie pomogli mi moi studenci. Pokaz instalacji został połączony z występem Chóru Synagogi pod Białym Bocianem z Wrocławia.

Dokumentacja tej instalacji została pokazana na wystawie Pożar! 75. rocznica Nocy Kryształowej 1938. Miejsce: Dokumentationszentrum Topographie des Terror w Berlinie (7.11.2013 – 2.03.2014). Wystawę zorganizowała Fundacja Pomnik Pomordowanych Żydów Europy, Fundacja Topografia Terroru i Fundacja Nowa Synagoga Berlin – Centrum Judaicum.
