Unrealized design of the Janusz Korczak Memorial, 1997. Two steel triangles and 201 field rocks. Triangles out of which the Star of David is constructed, symbolise the mutual passing of the seen and unseen, the Earth and sky. The “Earth” triangle with 200 smaller rocks symbolises a group of 200 children together with whom Korczak went to his death in Treblinka. The symbol of Korczak leading the children is a large rock that supports the “Sky”. On this rock or under it, there is a place for information about Korczak and a motto from Songs About the Murdered Jewish Nation by Icchak Kacenelson, where this fragment appears: “They departed together, as did Janusz Korczak and Wilczyńska, sheltering their children, Where even parents would not.” Polish text Pomnik Korczaka Niezrealizowany projekt pomnika Janusza Korczaka, 1997.
